Comparative e Superlative: Como Usar Corretamente (+Exercícios)

Dominar comparativos e superlativos em inglês é fundamental para expressar diferenças e destacar características de forma precisa. O Comparative compara dois itens (“mais/menos … than”), e o Superlative aponta o “mais/menos” de um grupo (sempre com the). Adjetivos seguem três padrões principais:

1. Terminação em –er/–est (one-syllable: tall → taller/tallest; CVC: big → bigger/big­gest; –e: wide → wider/widest)
2. Troca de –y por –i + –er/–est (happy → happier/happiest)
3. More/Most ou Less/Least (2+ sílabas sem –y: interesting → more interesting/most interesting)

1. Comparative

Usado para comparar dois itens em relação a uma característica. Sempre acompanhado de than.

1.1 Formação

2. Superlative

Destaca o item “mais” ou “menos” em um conjunto. Sempre com o artigo the, e frequentemente seguido de in ou of.

3. Comparação de Igualdade

Para indicar igualdade de grau usa-se as … as.

She is as tall as her brother.
Ela é tão alta quanto o irmão.

4. Irregular Adjectives

Alguns adjetivos não seguem padrões regulares:
