[Living room. Heather is doing homework at the dining table. Mom walks by]

Mom: Heather, have you finished your homework yet?

Heather: Not quite. But Mom, can I go to the movies with my friends at seven? I already told them I’d be there.

Mom: Only if you finish your homework first.

Heather: But the movie starts in thirty minutes! I promise I’ll do it when I get back.

Mom: Sorry, sweetie. Homework first, then movies.

Heather: Dad! Can I please go to the movies at seven?

Dad: What did your mother say?

Heather: She said I have to finish my homework first, but my friends are waiting for me!

Dad: Then you better finish quickly. Tell you what—if you get it done, you can borrow the car.

Heather: Really? Okay! What time do I need to be back?

Dad: Ten o’clock.

Heather: Can I stay out until eleven?

Dad: Ask your mother.

Heather: Mom, if I finish my homework right now, can I come home at eleven instead of ten?

Mom: Fine. Eleven, but not a minute later.Heather: Thank you! I’ll finish this in like ten minutes!

[Living room. Heather is doing homework at the dining table. Mom walks by] [Sala de estar. Heather está fazendo lição de casa na mesa de jantar. Mãe passa por ali]

Mom: Heather, have you finished your homework yet? Mãe: Heather, você já terminou sua lição de casa?

Heather: Not quite. But Mom, can I go to the movies with my friends at seven? I already told them I’d be there. Heather: Ainda não. Mas mãe, posso ir ao cinema com meus amigos às sete? Já disse a eles que estaria lá.

Mom: Only if you finish your homework first. Mãe: Só se você terminar sua lição de casa primeiro.

Heather: But the movie starts in thirty minutes! I promise I’ll do it when I get back. Heather: Mas o filme começa em trinta minutos! Eu prometo que vou fazer quando voltar.

Mom: Sorry, sweetie. Homework first, then movies. Mãe: Desculpa, querida. Lição de casa primeiro, depois cinema.

Heather: Dad! Can I please go to the movies at seven? Heather: Pai! Posso ir ao cinema às sete, por favor?

Dad: What did your mother say? Pai: O que sua mãe disse?

Heather: She said I have to finish my homework first, but my friends are waiting for me! Heather: Ela disse que tenho que terminar minha lição de casa primeiro, mas meus amigos estão esperando por mim!

Dad: Then you better finish quickly. Tell you what—if you get it done, you can borrow the car. Pai: Então é melhor você terminar rápido. Vou te dizer uma coisa—se você terminar, pode pegar o carro emprestado.

Heather: Really? Okay! What time do I need to be back? Heather: Sério? Ok! A que horas preciso voltar?

Dad: Ten o’clock. Pai: Dez horas.

Heather: Can I stay out until eleven? Heather: Posso ficar fora até as onze?

Dad: Ask your mother. Pai: Pergunte à sua mãe.

Heather: Mom, if I finish my homework right now, can I come home at eleven instead of ten? Heather: Mãe, se eu terminar minha lição de casa agora mesmo, posso voltar para casa às onze em vez de dez?

Mom: Fine. Eleven, but not a minute later. Mãe: Tudo bem. Onze, mas nem um minuto depois.

Heather: Thank you! I’ll finish this in like ten minutes! Heather: Obrigada! Vou terminar isso em tipo dez minutos!
