[School hallway after the final bell]

Daniel: Hey, Mark! What’s up?

Mark: Not much. How about you?

Daniel: Great! No school tomorrow, so I’m playing baseball with some friends.

Mark: Oh, really? I didn’t know you were into baseball.

Daniel: Yeah, I love it! I play whenever I can, and I watch games on TV all the time.

Mark: Nice. Do you have a favorite player?

Daniel: Definitely Barry Bonds.

Mark: Bonds? How come?

Daniel: He’s just incredible—so strong and fast. Plus, he was one of the best hitters ever.

Mark: I mean, yeah, he was talented… but I’m not really a fan.

Daniel: Why not?

Mark: He took steroids. That stuff helps players get stronger and faster without actually putting in the work. It’s basically cheating.

Daniel: Oh… I didn’t know that.

Mark: Yeah, it was a big scandal. A lot of people feel the same way.

Daniel: That changes things. Maybe I need a new favorite player!Mark: Ha! Well, there are plenty of great ones to choose from.

Daniel: Hey, Mark! What’s up? Daniel: Ei, Mark! E aí?

Mark: Not much. How about you? Mark: Nada demais. E você?

Mark: Oh, really? I didn’t know you were into baseball. Mark: Ah, sério? Não sabia que você curtia beisebol.

Daniel: Yeah, I love it! I play whenever I can, and I watch games on TV all the time. Daniel: Sim, eu amo! Jogo sempre que posso, e assisto jogos na TV o tempo todo.

Mark: Nice. Do you have a favorite player? Mark: Legal. Você tem um jogador favorito?

Daniel: Definitely Barry Bonds. Daniel: Definitivamente Barry Bonds.

Mark: Bonds? How come? Mark: Bonds? Por quê?
