SCENE: A casual diner on a busy lunch hour. A customer sits down at a booth near the window. A server approaches with a friendly smile, carrying menus.

SERVER: Hey there! How’s it going today?

JORDAN: Good, thanks! Can I get a menu?

SERVER: Absolutely! Here you go. Can I start you off with something to drink?

JORDAN: Um, let me see the menu first. What’s the special today?

SERVER: Today we’ve got grilled tuna melt with cheese on rye bread. It comes with fries and a pickle.

JORDAN: Oh, that sounds really good! I’ll have that.

SERVER: Perfect choice! And what would you like to drink?

JORDAN: I’ll take a Coke, please.

SERVER: Regular or Diet?

JORDAN: Regular is fine.

SERVER: You got it! I’ll be right back with your drink, and your food should be out in about ten minutes.

JORDAN: Sounds great, thanks!

The server returns a few minutes later with the food.

SERVER: Alright, here’s your tuna melt! Careful, the plate’s hot. Can I get you anything else?

JORDAN: No, this looks perfect. Thank you!

SERVER: Enjoy! Just wave me down if you need anything.

Later, after Jordan finishes eating.

JORDAN: Excuse me, can I get the check when you have a chance?

SERVER: Sure thing! I’ll grab that for you right now.

The server returns with the bill.

SERVER: Here you go. Your total is $14.75.

JORDAN: Here’s twenty. Keep the change!

SERVER: Oh, thank you so much! I really appreciate it!

JORDAN: No problem. The food was great!

SERVER: Glad you enjoyed it! Have a wonderful day!JORDAN: You too!

29. Ordering a Meal 29. Pedindo uma Refeição

SCENE: A casual diner on a busy lunch hour. A customer sits down at a booth near the window. A server approaches with a friendly smile, carrying menus. CENA: Um restaurante casual em um horário de almoço movimentado. Um cliente se senta em uma cabine perto da janela. Um garçom se aproxima com um sorriso amigável, carregando cardápios.

SERVER: Hey there! How’s it going today? GARÇOM: E aí! Como vai hoje?

JORDAN: Good, thanks! Can I get a menu? JORDAN: Bem, obrigado! Posso pegar um cardápio?

SERVER: Absolutely! Here you go. Can I start you off with something to drink? GARÇOM: Absolutamente! Aqui está. Posso começar oferecendo algo para beber?

JORDAN: Um, let me see the menu first. What’s the special today? JORDAN: Hum, deixa eu ver o cardápio primeiro. Qual é o especial de hoje?

SERVER: Today we’ve got grilled tuna melt with cheese on rye bread. It comes with fries and a pickle. GARÇOM: Hoje temos sanduíche de atum grelhado com queijo derretido em pão de centeio. Vem com batatas fritas e um picles.

JORDAN: Oh, that sounds really good! I’ll have that. JORDAN: Ah, isso parece muito bom! Vou querer isso.

SERVER: Perfect choice! And what would you like to drink? GARÇOM: Escolha perfeita! E o que você gostaria de beber?

JORDAN: I’ll take a Coke, please. JORDAN: Vou querer uma Coca, por favor.

SERVER: Regular or Diet? GARÇOM: Normal ou Diet?

JORDAN: Regular is fine. JORDAN: Normal está bom.

SERVER: You got it! I’ll be right back with your drink, and your food should be out in about ten minutes. GARÇOM: Pode deixar! Já volto com sua bebida, e sua comida deve sair em cerca de dez minutos.

JORDAN: Sounds great, thanks! JORDAN: Parece ótimo, obrigado!

The server returns a few minutes later with the food. O garçom retorna alguns minutos depois com a comida.

SERVER: Alright, here’s your tuna melt! Careful, the plate’s hot. Can I get you anything else? GARÇOM: Certo, aqui está seu sanduíche de atum! Cuidado, o prato está quente. Posso pegar mais alguma coisa?

JORDAN: No, this looks perfect. Thank you! JORDAN: Não, isso parece perfeito. Obrigado!

SERVER: Enjoy! Just wave me down if you need anything. GARÇOM: Aproveite! Só me chame se precisar de algo.

Later, after Jordan finishes eating. Mais tarde, depois que Jordan termina de comer.

JORDAN: Excuse me, can I get the check when you have a chance? JORDAN: Com licença, posso pegar a conta quando você tiver chance?

SERVER: Sure thing! I’ll grab that for you right now. GARÇOM: Claro! Vou pegar isso para você agora mesmo.

The server returns with the bill. O garçom retorna com a conta.

SERVER: Here you go. Your total is $14.75. GARÇOM: Aqui está. Seu total é $14,75.

JORDAN: Here’s twenty. Keep the change! JORDAN: Aqui estão vinte. Fique com o troco!

SERVER: Oh, thank you so much! I really appreciate it! GARÇOM: Ah, muito obrigado! Eu realmente agradeço!

JORDAN: No problem. The food was great! JORDAN: Sem problema. A comida estava ótima!
