SCENE: A modern art gallery on a quiet Sunday afternoon. Two strangers stand in front of a large Picasso painting, both studying it intently. After a moment of silence, one of them speaks.

NATHAN: This is incredible. Picasso was one of the most powerful painters of all time, don’t you think?

ELENA: Really? You think so?

NATHAN: Absolutely! Look at the way he uses shapes and colors. It makes the whole thing come alive.

ELENA: Yeah, I see what you mean. There’s so much texture here… it almost looks three-dimensional.

NATHAN: Right? You can really feel his passion for life in his work.

ELENA: Hmm… I actually think he was in a lot of pain. Look at how he painted the faces.

NATHAN: They do look tortured, don’t they? But that’s what makes it so powerful. It’s like the painting is staring right at you.

ELENA: Exactly! It’s almost like it’s asking for something… like it wants to escape from the canvas.

NATHAN: Wow, that’s a beautiful way to put it. You really have an eye for this stuff.

ELENA: Thanks! I’ve always loved art. Painting and photography are my favorites. What about you?

NATHAN: I’m more into sculpture, actually. Have you seen the Rodin piece down the hall yet?

ELENA: No, I haven’t! Is it good?

NATHAN: It’s amazing. It’s so lifelike, you feel like you could reach out and shake his hand.

ELENA: That sounds incredible! Can you show me?

NATHAN: Sure, follow me. It’s just this way.

ELENA: Perfect, let’s go!

They walk off together toward the sculpture gallery.

28. Discussing a Painting 28. Discutindo uma Pintura

SCENE: A modern art gallery on a quiet Sunday afternoon. Two strangers stand in front of a large Picasso painting, both studying it intently. After a moment of silence, one of them speaks. CENA: Uma galeria de arte moderna em uma tarde tranquila de domingo. Dois estranhos estão em frente a uma grande pintura de Picasso, ambos estudando-a intensamente. Após um momento de silêncio, um deles fala.

NATHAN: This is incredible. Picasso was one of the most powerful painters of all time, don’t you think? NATHAN: Isso é incrível. Picasso foi um dos pintores mais poderosos de todos os tempos, você não acha?

ELENA: Really? You think so? ELENA: Sério? Você acha?

NATHAN: Absolutely! Look at the way he uses shapes and colors. It makes the whole thing come alive. NATHAN: Absolutamente! Olha a maneira como ele usa formas e cores. Faz a coisa toda ganhar vida.
