SCENE: A busy downtown street corner on a Saturday afternoon. A tourist holding a phone with a map looks confused. A local resident waiting at a crosswalk notices and offers help.

CARLOS: Excuse me, sorry to bother you. I’m a bit lost. Can you help me?

JENNIFER: Sure! Where are you trying to go?

CARLOS: I’m looking for Bella’s Italian Restaurant. Do you know it?

JENNIFER: Oh yeah, Bella’s! It’s actually not far from here at all.

CARLOS: That’s great! How do I get there?

JENNIFER: Okay, so from here, you’re gonna walk straight down this street until you hit Washington Street. That’s about three blocks.

CARLOS: Straight for three blocks to Washington Street. Got it.

JENNIFER: Right. Then turn left on Washington and walk for about four more blocks. You’ll pass a bank and a coffee shop on your right.

CARLOS: Left on Washington, four blocks… okay.

JENNIFER: Then you’ll turn right on 9th Street, and Bella’s is the second building on your left. It has a big red sign, you can’t miss it.

CARLOS: Wait, sorry, can you repeat that last part? After I turn on Washington…

JENNIFER: No problem! So after four blocks on Washington, you turn right on 9th Street. Bella’s will be the second building on your left side.

CARLOS: Perfect! Thank you so much, I really appreciate it!

JENNIFER: You’re welcome! The food there is amazing, by the way. Enjoy!CARLOS: Thanks! I’ve heard great things about it!

Um residente local esperando na faixa de pedestres percebe e oferece ajuda.

CARLOS: Excuse me, sorry to bother you. I’m a bit lost. Can you help me? CARLOS: Com licença, desculpe incomodá-la. Estou um pouco perdido. Pode me ajudar?

JENNIFER: Sure! Where are you trying to go? JENNIFER: Claro! Para onde você está tentando ir?

CARLOS: I’m looking for Bella’s Italian Restaurant. Do you know it? CARLOS: Estou procurando o Restaurante Italiano Bella’s. Você conhece?

JENNIFER: Oh yeah, Bella’s! It’s actually not far from here at all. JENNIFER: Ah sim, Bella’s! Na verdade não é longe daqui.

CARLOS: That’s great! How do I get there? CARLOS: Que ótimo! Como chego lá?
