SCENE: The lobby of a local theater on a Saturday afternoon. A customer approaches the ticket window where a cashier sits behind a glass partition with a computer and card reader.

ALEX: Hi! I’d like two tickets for tonight’s show, please.

CASHIER: Sure! What section would you prefer?

ALEX: What options do you have?

CASHIER: We have orchestra, mezzanine, and balcony seats. The orchestra is closest to the stage.

ALEX: How much are the orchestra seats?

CASHIER: Those are $45 each.

ALEX: Okay, I’ll take two orchestra seats.

CASHIER: Perfect. That’ll be $90 total. Do you happen to have a student ID?

ALEX: Yeah, I do! Does that get me a discount?

CASHIER: It does! Students get 20% off. So your new total is $72.

ALEX: Oh, awesome! Here’s my card.

Alex hands over the credit card.

CASHIER: Great, just give me one second.

The cashier processes the payment and prints the tickets.

CASHIER: Alright, here are your tickets. You’re in row F, seats 12 and 13. The show starts at 7:30, but I’d recommend getting here about 15 minutes early.

ALEX: Perfect! Is there any food or drinks inside?

CASHIER: Yes, there’s a concession stand in the lobby. You can bring drinks and snacks into the theater.

ALEX: Great, thank you so much!

CASHIER: You’re welcome! Enjoy the show!
