SCENE: Inside a local post office on a weekday afternoon. A customer walks up to the counter carrying a medium-sized box. The postal clerk looks up from her computer.

CLERK: Hi there! What can I do for you today?

ALEX: Hey! I need to send this package, please.

CLERK: Sure thing! Where are you sending it to?

ALEX: It’s going to Brazil.

CLERK: Okay, Brazil. And what’s inside, if you don’t mind me asking?

ALEX: Just some books and a birthday gift for my cousin.

CLERK: Perfect. Now, how would you like to send it? We have a few options.

ALEX: What are the options?

CLERK: Well, we have standard international shipping, which takes about two to three weeks. Or we have express, which gets there in about five to seven business days.

ALEX: How much is standard?

CLERK: Let me weigh this for you first.

The clerk places the package on the scale.

CLERK: Okay, for standard shipping, that’ll be $28.50.

ALEX: And how much is express?

CLERK: Express would be $67.

ALEX: Oh wow, that’s a big difference! I’ll go with standard, please.

CLERK: No problem. Would you like to add tracking and insurance?

ALEX: How much is that?

CLERK: Tracking is included for free, but insurance is an extra $5 for up to $100 of coverage.

ALEX: Yeah, I’ll add the insurance just to be safe.

CLERK: Good idea. Alright, so your total is $33.50. Will that be cash or card?

ALEX: Card, please.

Alex pays and the clerk prints out a receipt.

CLERK: Here’s your receipt with the tracking number. You can track your package online at usps.com.

ALEX: Awesome, thank you so much!

CLERK: You’re welcome! It should arrive in about two to three weeks.

ALEX: Perfect! Have a good day!

CLERK: You too!

25. Sending a Package 25. Enviando um Pacote

CENA: Dentro de uma agência de correios local em uma tarde de dia de semana. Um cliente se aproxima do balcão carregando uma caixa de tamanho médio. A atendente dos correios levanta o olhar do computador.

CLERK: Hi there! What can I do for you today? ATENDENTE: Oi! O que posso fazer por você hoje?

ALEX: Hey! I need to send this package, please. ALEX: Ei! Preciso enviar este pacote, por favor.

CLERK: Sure thing! Where are you sending it to? ATENDENTE: Claro! Para onde você está enviando?

ALEX: It’s going to Brazil. ALEX: Está indo para o Brasil.

CLERK: Okay, Brazil. And what’s inside, if you don’t mind me asking? ATENDENTE: Ok, Brasil. E o que tem dentro, se você não se importa de eu perguntar?

ALEX: Just some books and a birthday gift for my cousin. ALEX: Apenas alguns livros e um presente de aniversário para meu primo.
