Scene: Inside an electronics store. Mr. Davis walks up to the customer service counter carrying a microwave box.

Mr. Davis (Customer): Hello, I’d like to return this microwave, please.

Olivia (Shop Assistant): Of course. May I ask why you’re returning it?

Mr. Davis: It doesn’t work. I plug it in and try to turn it on, but nothing happens.

Olivia: I see. Do you happen to have your receipt?

Mr. Davis: Unfortunately, no. I threw it away — I didn’t think I’d need it.

Olivia: No worries. To get a refund, I do need a receipt. But if you don’t have one, I can offer you store credit instead.

Mr. Davis: That’s fine. I don’t need my money back — I just want a microwave that actually works!

Olivia: Totally understandable. Would you like the same model, or would you prefer a different brand?

Mr. Davis: I think I’ll try a different brand. I’ve kind of lost confidence in this one after what happened.

Olivia: That makes sense. Here’s another model I’d recommend — it’s reliable and has great reviews.

Mr. Davis: It does look nice. Is it more expensive?

Olivia: A little, yes — but the quality is much better.

Mr. Davis: I suppose you get what you pay for. It’s a bit more, but still seems like a good deal.

Olivia: I can ring it up for you right here if you’d like.

Mr. Davis: Thanks, but I’ve got a few more things to pick up. I’ll pay for everything together at the counter.

Olivia: No problem at all. Is there anything else I can help you with today?

Mr. Davis: No, you’ve been very helpful already. Thank you so much!Olivia: You’re very welcome — have a great day!

16. Returning a Microwave to the Store 16. Devolvendo um Micro-ondas à Loja

Scene: Inside an electronics store. Mr. Davis walks up to the customer service counter carrying a microwave box. Cena: Dentro de uma loja de eletrônicos. Sr. Davis se aproxima do balcão de atendimento ao cliente carregando uma caixa de micro-ondas.

Mr. Davis (Customer): Hello, I’d like to return this microwave, please. Sr. Davis (Cliente): Olá, gostaria de devolver este micro-ondas, por favor.

Olivia (Shop Assistant): Of course. May I ask why you’re returning it? Olivia (Assistente de Loja): Claro. Posso perguntar por que você está devolvendo?

Mr. Davis: It doesn’t work. I plug it in and try to turn it on, but nothing happens. Sr. Davis: Ele não funciona. Eu o conecto na tomada e tento ligá-lo, mas nada acontece.

Olivia: I see. Do you happen to have your receipt? Olivia: Entendo. Por acaso você tem seu recibo?
