15. Buying a Gift

Scene: Inside a department store. Anna walks up to the counter looking thoughtful.

Anna (Customer): Hi, could you help me, please?

Mia (Sales Assistant): Of course! What are you looking for today?

Anna: I need to buy a gift for my dad, but I have no idea where to start!

Mia: No problem — I can help with that. What does your dad like to do for fun?

Anna: He loves golfing, skiing, and watching movies.

Mia: Got it! And what’s your price range?

Anna: Under fifty dollars would be perfect.

Mia: Well, we’re having a sale on DVDs if you’d like to get him a movie.

Anna: Hmm, no thanks — he already has a huge collection. Maybe something like clothes?

Mia: Great idea! We just got a new collection of ski sweaters — they’re around fifty bucks if you’re interested.

Anna: That sounds perfect! Could you show them to me?

Mia: Absolutely! They’re in the men’s sports section — right this way.

(They walk over to the display.)

Mia: Here we are. What color do you think he’d like?

Anna: I think he’d love that blue and white one.

Mia: And what size does he wear?

Anna: Medium should be fine. Thank you so much — I’m sure he’s going to love it!Mia: You’re very welcome! I’m glad I could help.

Scene: Inside a department store. Anna walks up to the counter looking thoughtful. Cena: Dentro de uma loja de departamentos. Anna se aproxima do balcão parecendo pensativa.

Anna (Customer): Hi, could you help me, please? Anna (Cliente): Oi, você poderia me ajudar, por favor?

Mia (Sales Assistant): Of course! What are you looking for today? Mia (Assistente de Vendas): Claro! O que você está procurando hoje?

Anna: I need to buy a gift for my dad, but I have no idea where to start! Anna: Preciso comprar um presente para meu pai, mas não tenho ideia de onde começar!

Mia: No problem — I can help with that. What does your dad like to do for fun? Mia: Sem problema — posso ajudar com isso. O que seu pai gosta de fazer por diversão?

Anna: He loves golfing, skiing, and watching movies. Anna: Ele adora jogar golfe, esquiar e assistir filmes.

Mia: Got it! And what’s your price range? Mia: Entendi! E qual é sua faixa de preço?
