Agora, o que acontece quando queremos fazer uso da sua voz passiva, o Present Continuous Passive? Vamos descobrir.
Estrutura
O Present Continuous Passive é empregado quando queremos dar mais ênfase na ação do que na pessoa que está praticando essa ação. Então, sua estrutura segue o padrão am/is/are + being + verbo no past participle. Veja:
| Voz ativa | The postman is delivering my letter. |
| Voz passiva | The letter is being delivered by the postman. |
| Voz ativa | The teacher is congratulating the students. |
| Voz passiva | The students are being congratulated by the teacher. |
| Voz ativa | The team is writing an inform about the sales of this month. |
| Voz passiva | An inform about the sales of this month is being written by the team. |
Usos
Quanto aos seus usos, é muito comum recorrer ao Present Continuous Passive:
- Quando nos referimos a verdades gerais
Kids are always being told what to do by their parents.
- Quando o sujeito é vago ou não está claro
There is something being handled by the police over there.
- Quando o sujeito é irrelevante
It is being discussed by the team.
- Quando estamos escrevendo um texto acadêmico ou mais formal
Covid-19 vaccines are being studied by the scientific community all over the world.
