62. Trying Karate

[Gym locker room. Janet and Susan are putting away their workout gear]

Janet: That was such a good workout! I love this place.

Susan: Me too! So, do you do any other sports?

Janet: Yeah, I play tennis pretty regularly, and I do some karate. Oh, and windsurfing in the summer when I can.

Susan: Wow, you’re really active! I’m not great at sports—that’s why I like the gym. The classes are easy to follow.

Janet: Hey, you should come to karate with me!

Susan: Karate? I don’t know… I’ve never done martial arts before.

Janet: That’s the point! You can learn. It’s actually really fun. Come with me this Saturday—just try it once.

Susan: Hmm… okay, why not? I’ll give it a shot.

Janet: Awesome! Want to meet at my place around 10?

Susan: Sounds good! I’m actually kind of excited now. So what else do you like to do besides sports?

Janet: I go to the movies a lot, and I read when I have time. What about you?

Susan: I’m really into cooking. Do you cook much?

Janet: Ha! No way. I’m terrible in the kitchen. Like, dangerously bad.

Susan: Perfect! How about I make us lunch after class?

Janet: Now you’re talking! That would be amazing.

Susan: It’s a plan, then—karate and lunch on Saturday!
